Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where will Tzofim meet?
Initially in La Jolla.  As the group grows there is the potential for us to develop other locations such as Carmel Valley, Scripps Ranch/Poway and Encinitas/Carlsbad.

2. When will Tzofim meet?
Meetings will be during the week most likely from 4:30-6:30 - once/week.  Day of the week to be determined based on participants and madrichim availability.

3. How much will it cost?
We are working out the logistics and much will depend on whether we have local assistance, or we need to bring in a Shaliach from Israel on an annual basis, and of course the size of the group.  But, we estimate at this time that the cost will be approximately $300/annually or $30/month for a child.

4. Will the peulot really be conducted only in Hebrew?
Yes, it will be conducted in Hebrew.  This is a program for Hebrew speaking children.  If your child does not speak Hebrew, but is interested, consider having them join us through the Israeli Cultural Center in a Hebrew immersion program so we can work with them to learn the language and join the group.

Tzofim Tzabar - Tzofim in the United States

The Israeli community in the US is currently estimated to be between 600,000-800,000 people. Tzofim Tzabar  works with the youth of the Israeli community living in North America (both permanent and temporary residents) with all of the activities conducted in Hebrew.

Tzofim Tzabar emphasizes social and moral development. The program helps young people to develop physically, intellectually and socially through age-specific activities including simulation games, discussions, projects, camping trips, ceremonies, holiday celebrations, music, sport - and lots of fun. A central element of the Scouting program is that is a youth-led movement. The veteran Scouts, ages 15-18, are the counselors for younger members, ages 8-14. The pinnacle of the program is for young people to experience the responsibility and leadership of guiding others.

This program is organized by the Tzofim (Israel Scouts) Movement and supported by The Ministry of Absorption.
